Canterbury Art Teachers' Association

Welcome to the Canterbury Art Teachers' Association.

CATA has been active in Christchurch and the wider region for several decades. It is an organisation that is driven by local practicing Art teachers who have gained skills and expertise over the course of their career, from a variety of schools in Canterbury. CATA strives to provide regional assessment support, forums, workshops, expert knowledge and skills for beginning and experienced teachers at all curriculum levels.

The Education Council under the ‘Professional Standards for Teachers’ encourages becoming members of relevant associations as an important part of professional development. Becoming a member of CATA is a great way to network with colleagues; you can learn new techniques, share resources as well as discuss current pedagogy and practice. It is also a good way to locate specialist relievers or to offer your services as one. CATA meetings and workshops are held during the year at a variety of education, industry and community venues.

Next meeting: 2025
